urban beauty – owl stencil by stewy

We live in East London. You don’t get a lot of natural beauty in East London. There are some brilliant parks, but pure and natural beauty just isn’t in abundance.

What we do have to brighten our days though is urban beauty. It’s the stuff that surrounds us. It’s in the design of buildings, it’s in the creations of street artists. It’s the stuff that lifts your spirits on a grey and rainy Monday, the stuff that makes you smile a wry smile as you go about your day.

This owl stencil, by an artist called Stewy, crops up in various places round Shoreditch and Hackney. The Tinkerous Toddler and I often sing a little French ditty about a cuckoo and an owl, so there is always a smile on her face when she spots one of these little fellas.

Stewy specialises in British Animals and Cult Icons, check out his work here – Stewy
